Bill Lester was the clear winner in the April Medal competition in the Seniors’ section of Fosseway Golf Club and as a reward, saw his handicap cut by two shots.
His nett total of 59 saw him four shots clear of Pat Cray, with Competition Secretary, Brian Phelps, third, with a nett 64.
There was less good news for Lester, however, when he partnered Seniors’ Captain, Gerry Rowell, in the opening match of the away fixture with Minchinhampton, losing 6&4.
The overall result was a 5–1 defeat with Allen Cheney and Cyril Blacker and Cray and Bob Smith managing a half. John Bendle and Graham Edgell ended just one down, Barry
Dugmore and Terry Button lost 2&1, while Martyn Cuer and Alan Jones were beaten 9&7.
