Nominate someone worthy of Civic Award

By Leah Smith in Local People

Nominations are being invited to recognise volunteers in Midsomer Norton at the town’s Annual Civic Service at 6 p.m. on Sunday, 18th June.

Originally started in 2007 by the Midsomer Norton Society, these Awards have developed into an important part of the town’s civic calendar. The Town Council took on the Awards when it was formed in 2011, as a way of recognising the contribution of local residents who volunteer their time.

“Over the years, many people have been honoured for everything from specific projects to a complete lifetime of achievement. What is clear is that in Midsomer Norton at least, year on year there is no shortage of dedicated individuals and groups to honour,” said Cllr Paul Myers, Mayor of Midsomer Norton.

The Town Council would be delighted to consider nominations from residents for any individual or group who they feel deserves public recognition of their contribution to the community of Midsomer Norton. People are free to contact the Town Council by dropping in to the Town Hall at the Island, email: town clerk@midsomernorton

towncouncil.co.uk or send a letter to the Town Council, Town Hall, The Island,

Midsomer Norton, Radstock, BA3 2HQ. Nominations should reach the Council by 12 noon on 26th May 2017, so that the Town Council can decide at its next meeting who to make Awards to.

The whole community is invited to attend the Civic Service on 18th June – the venue will be confirmed in the next few weeks. For further details, please visit: www.midsomernortontowncouncil.co.uk or ring the Town Clerk on: 01761 418701.
