La La Land comes to Midsomer Norton

A blockbuster double-bill of cinema, with a musical twist, will be taking place at Midsomer Norton Town Hall on Saturday, 27th May with Sing at 2.30 p.m. followed by La La Land at 7.30 p.m.

Sing is a smash-hit animated family musical comedy brought to you by the team behind Despicable Me, and features an all-star voice cast including Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane and Scarlett Johansson.

Dapper Koala, Buster Moon, presides over a once-grand theater that has fallen on hard times. An eternal optimist, and a bit of a scoundrel, he loves his theatre above all and will do anything to preserve it.

Facing the crumbling of his life’s ambition, he takes one final chance to restore his fading jewel by producing the world’s greatest singing competition. Five contestants emerge: a mouse, a timid elephant, a pig, a gorilla and a punk-rock porcupine.

La La Land tells the story of Mia (Emma Stone), an aspiring actress, and Sebastian (Ryan Gosling), a dedicated jazz musician, who are struggling to make ends meet in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts. Set in modern day Los Angeles, this original musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams. The film recently received fourteen nominations at the 89th Academy Awards, tying the record for most nominations with Titanic and All About Eve, winning six, including the awards for Best Director and Best Actress (Stone).

Upcoming screenings include Rogue One, The Lego Batman Movie and Lion. All screenings feature cinema quality HD projection on the big screen with full surround sound and comfy cinema seating. Refreshments are available at all screenings from the fully licensed bar.
