Terry is new County Coach

Farrington Park’s PGA Coaching Professional, Terry Williams, has been appointed the Head Somerset Ladies Golf Coach from September 2017.

He has had experience of supporting the Somerset Girls’ Futures programme for a number of years, and has now been promoted to this prestigious position. He says: “I am extremely pleased to be given the opportunity to work with the most talented golfing women and girls in Somerset. The squad has some serious strength and depth with lots of young golfers coming through.”

Farrington Park will host the squad for the coaching sessions throughout the Autumn and Winter and Terry is hoping the excellent facilities will give the team the edge when they compete against Gloucestershire, Cornwall, Wiltshire, Dorset and Devon at match week at St Enodoc in the Summer of 2018.

In testing conditions, the Farrington Park Avalon team welcomed reigning Champions, Vivary Park. Tom Snelling and Jack Broadway were never down in the match until, unfortunately, the last putt of the game, losing one down. Paul Gregory and Gary Prater were always in control of their game, romping to a 6&5 victory.

Nick Poore was partnered with Phil Heyslop, making a welcome return to the team after serious illness. They fought out a great 3&2 win. Lee Bruton and Alex Bendall were involved in a great quality game and at five under, were wondering how they lost on the eighteenth. Last out and needing a win were Mark Adams and Paul Thomas, who were two up on thirteen, but a fight back saw the game reach the eighteenth green all square and the opposition sneaked a one up win. Not the result hoped for, but well played Vivary Park. The Avalon team lost 3–2.
