Local Karate club congratulates student, Zack

By Leah Smith in Martial Arts

There was recently a grading held at the oldest Shotokan Karate club in Somerset.

The U.B.S.K. Norton Radstock Shotokan Karate Club held a grading on 24th June by 6th Dan, Sensei Wayne Teall.

Sensei Teall was extremely proud of student, Zack Bartlett, for passing his 1st Dan black belt at a grading held at Norton Hill School, which lasted three hours. Zack started his training in karate five years ago and has always been very enthusiastic, working extremely hard at all his sessions and has excelled in all the aspects of his karate.

Zack had to free fight, or spar, with six highly motivated and high ranking students, and he had a sparring session with Sensei, 6th Dan Wayne Teall.

If you would like to join our family-orientated club, training sessions take place at Orchard Vale Community Centre, Orchard Vale, Midsomer Norton, Mondays 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Children’s sessions take place 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Norton Hill School on Tuesdays 6 p.m. – 7 p.m and 7 p.m. – 8 p.m. and at Paulton Village Hall on Wednesdays 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with children’s sessions from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m.
