Everyone at Prattens would like to congratulate Pauline Dando and Chris Love, who won their game in the semi-final of the County Pairs competition and now play in the final at Leamington in August.
Prattens’ Ladies met Purnells in the Wild League, Prattens lost on all three rinks and overall by 47 shots to 58. In the first round of the Southey Trophy, the scores were very close on all disciplines but Bath Ladies’ Bowling Club won out overall.
In the first round of the Turnbull Cup, Prattens’ Men lost out against Bath Bowling Club and will now be entered into the Wedmore Plate, where they will play Frome Selwood. Against Fosseway, in the Mid-Somerset League, Prattens drew on one rink, lost by one shot on two others and by two shots on the fourth rink, which gained Prattens one League point. Prattens’ Men still top the Somerset County League, but the game scheduled for Saturday was conceded by Stothert & Pitt B, who failed to get a team, this gave Prattens all twelve League points and ten shots.
The Club triples competition, on Sunday, was a great success, the finalists will be Edna Shearn, Gus Halfhide and Sue Fear against Jim Cahill, Liz Durnford and Gill Moon, who meet in our finals weekend in September. Our thanks go to Graham and Betty Whittock, for organising the competition and providing the catering on the day.
In the coming week, Prattens’ Ladies have two Wild League games at home to Paulton and Norwest and the first round of the Fear Cup again, at Home to Bath Ladies’ Bowling Club. Prattens’ Men have the Wedmore Plate match at home to Frome Selwood; a Mid-Somerset League game away to Norwest and a friendly game away to Stothert & Pitt B. There is also a mixed friendly game at home to Ashcombe Park (Weston Super Mare).
