Tuesday was cut and slash day for the Gardeners at Midsomer Norton Station.

The bed by the signal box has been neglected over the summer as the gardeners have been busy stretching themselves over the rest of the site. The day was ideal for cutting back some of the overgrowth to prepare for some more rigorous weeding round the perennials and shrubs during the winter.

Unfortunately some of the rose bushes have died over the hot summer but clearing the plant growth will help to see where there can be some replanting. As ever we are short of volunteers but no skill is required for pulling bindweed, as seen wrapping itself round a shrub in the photo - and its very therapeutic - so volunteers welcome.

At the Halloween event on the 29th October, apart from rides on the iconic steam engine Kilmersdon, there will be some indoor plants and cactus gardens grown by the gardeners for sale in support of funds.
