Marmalade Trust, a charity that supports those experiencing chronic loneliness has received a £3,000 donation from Barratt David Wilson Homes South West to help people in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset this Christmas.

Staff from Barratt David Wilson Homes South West adopted Marmalade Trust as its Charity of the Year in 2019 and the relationship has continued to this day. This recent donation will be used to help find and support those who are experiencing chronic loneliness and will be put towards its Christmas Day projects.

Charity members are also dealing with the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, so the money will also help the Trust target some areas of greater deprivation to reach those in greatest need.

Amy Perrin, The Marmalade Trust’s Founder/CEO, said: "We were nominated by one of BDW’s employees as charity of the year partner back in 2019 and were incredibly fortunate to have a two-year partnership with them. This extra £3,000 donation was a lovely surprise. As a small charity, donations like this make a huge difference to us and to our members. The festive season is a crucial and busy time for us as we prepare for Christmas Day events when we provide companionship and meals to those who would otherwise spend the day alone. Knowing we have funding coming in helps us plan the delivery of our projects with greater certainty and advertise to find new members and volunteers.”

Louise Ware, sales director for Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, added: “We strongly believe in fostering strong communities and are proud to support Marmalade Trust so they can provide help for people over the festive period. No one should feel lonely at home, especially at this time of year and we want to do all we can to ensure our communities experience warmth, companionship and joy this Christmas.”

The Marmalade Trust has launched the 1500 Club, encouraging groups and teams to commit to activities raising £1,500 in support. Other events including Christmas sales are being organised by supporters and donation tins will be strategically placed across the area.
