Avon and Somerset Police are urgently appealing for information after the sudden death of a man in Shepton Mallet on Sunday night.

Police were called at 5.50 a.m. to the A37 Whitstone Road, near the Cannards Well public house and the Whitstone roundabout in Shepton Mallet, to reports that a man had been found lying in the road.

Police believe that he may have been involved in a road traffic collision after leaving a music festival that he had attended with his friends. The event, called West Fest, was taking place at the nearby Bath and West Showground.

Avon and Somerset Police would like to hear from anyone travelling along the A37 between Cannards Well public house and the Whitstone roundabout in Shepton Mallet from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m.

A number of people driving along the A37 at the time are believed to have stopped and saw this man before police arrived, while he lay injured on the road. It is reported that several cars may have stopped, including a white car being driven by a man and another car containing at least three women. Were you one of those people in a vehicle that stopped shortly after the incident?
