Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious fail-to-stop road traffic collision in Somerset this morning (3rd April).

Police were called to reports of a serious collision on the A36 at Standerwick Cross, Frome, at about 10 a.m. It happened at the junction of the A36 with the B3009.

A woman had to be released from one of the two vehicles at the scene. She suffered serious head injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Southmead Hospital.

The road remains closed while collision investigators carry out an examination of the scene. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.

Police believe that a third car was involved in the collision but failed to stop and left the scene. It is believed to be a black, grey or silver car.

Avon and Somerset Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident, especially anyone who may have captured the collision on a dash cam.
