St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Peasedown St John hosted the ‘World Day of Prayer’ for the village with this year’s prayers being for Zimbabwe.

St Joseph’s has a link with Zimbabwe through Zimbabwean parishioners and fundraising for a community in Masvingo.

Our ecumenical service took advantage of having Sindie and Angeline present to lead some singing in Shona, accompani- ments by the congregation with maracas and tambourines and even a little dancing at the end.

It was a joyful and lively occasion for the Church of England and Methodist parishioners who joined us. Shelagh Hetreed
