The 74th Annual Farmborough Flower Show took place on Saturday, 1st September and again, what a rainbow of colours wherever we looked!
In spite of the very unusual weather conditions earlier in the year, exhibitors managed to produce beautiful flowers, vegetables and fruit including a gigantic pumkin and the longest green bean ever seen!
Very appetising quiches, cakes, loaves of bread, preserves etc. were admired, as well as great flower arrangements, photographs, paintings and drawings, crafts, and of course, many paintings and other items made by local children. The hall also had the addition of a lovely banner created by some of the children from Farmborough School adding to the brightness of the event.
As well as our usual exhibitors, we had many new people taking part, so the committee gives a big thank you to all the exhibitors and hopes that all newcomers enjoyed the experience.
A variety of raffle prizes were on offer, including two large hampers, various vouchers for local businesses and for ‘Guess the Weight of the Cake’. We were treated to the most amazing cake baked by the very talented Barbara Gammon.
Special thanks go to all the helpers who gave their time during the show, as well as setting up and down; to the judges, the many visitors, bakers, sponsors, and the Flower Show Committee (Ann, Barbara, Dawn, Phil, and Ray).
Additonal thanks go to Martin Carter, Chairman of the Parish Council, for presenting the cups, trophies and awards to the winners.
