Norton Radstock Classic Vehicle Club will be holding its seventh Camerton Gathering on Sunday, 14th August. This ever popular free event for classic vehicle owners and visitors is held from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Camerton Village Hall and Sports Ground. Last year, over 550 classic vehicles took part during the day, with many visitors attending to see the wonderful display of motoring history.
This year, many NRCVC members have taken part in filming sessions for news and entertainment programmes. You may have seen the Ford Cortina 1600e of Ray Whittock, from Paulton, being driven by Strictly judge, Len Goodman, in his series, ‘Holiday of My Lifetime’, with guest, Ian Kelsey, on board.
In March, many NRCVC members took part in the celebration of fifty years of Longleat Safari Park, with a recreation of the original opening for Television News and a video of the day. For this event, over twenty members’ cars took part.
During August, many of their cars will be seen in the BBC series, Animal Park, with programmes interviewing persons involved with the early years of the Longleat Safari Park, whilst being driven around in classic cars. A further programme will see Kate Humble driven by Mike Franklin in his MG 1300 whilst she gives a commentary on the animal enclosures.
Ben Fogle will be seen in the Rover P5B, belonging to Dennis Millard, from Paulton, also giving a commentary about the history of the Safari Park. A further fifteen NRCVC members’ cars were on parade to give the scenes the period look.
ITV is making a three-part series about the England World Cup winning Captain, Bobby Moore, and for this series, club member, Brian Kent’s Jaguar 420 is being used for filming. Bobby Moore purchased a similar car after his success in winning the World Cup. Lorne MacFadyen will play Bobby, with Michelle Keegan playing his wife, Tina. The series will be screened in December.
Visitors will be able to identify the forty cars that have been on set this year by the screen star that they will display on their windscreens during the Camerton gathering on 14th August.
