AN annual careers and recruitment event organised by Bath College will bring together employers, students and jobseekers to help address regional skills gaps and promote apprenticeships.

The event will take place at the Apex Hotel on February 26 and is aimed at addressing regional skills gaps in Bath and North East Somerset and the surrounding areas. It follows National Apprenticeship Week and builds on efforts to promote apprenticeships as a route to success for both apprentices and employers.

Ebner Heatly, employer engagement manager at Bath College, said: “We’re excited to welcome 85 employers who are eager to meet and inspire the future workforce at this year’s Apprenticeship & Careers Fair. It’s an opportunity for people of all ages to explore the many career paths and apprenticeships available locally.

“Whether you’re starting out, looking to retrain, or curious about your options, the chance to speak with employers is invaluable. We’re proud to bring together talent and opportunity in Somerset, and we encourage everyone to get involved.”

Up to 85 local and national employers will be attending, representing sectors including engineering, business, construction, education, hair and beauty, accounting and sport. The college expects more than 1,000 visitors, including Bath College students, pupils from local schools and members of the public.

By bringing employers together with local talent and showcasing career pathways, the event aims to address ongoing skills shortages in the South West, support the local economy and strengthen links between education and employment.

Adrian Carr, partnership manager at the Department for Work and Pensions, said: “Apprenticeships are an opportunity to gain real-world skills while getting paid, which can lead to sustainable employment. They also offer clear progression pathways within sectors, including advanced roles and promotion.”

Those wishing to attend can register in advance and find further details via the Bath College Apprenticeship & Careers Fair listing on Eventbrite.
