On Saturday, 7th September, local fitness instructor, Bev Nichols, will be setting off to walk The Great Wall of China, both to raise money for Dorothy House and in memory of a dear friend who was cared for by the charity.

Starting four hours north of Beijing, Bev will be walking for five days, tackling a series of vigorous climbs and thousands of uneven steps. The trek will follow the winding path along the Yan Mountains to the Gubeiko Gateway, and takes on the very difficult Heavenly Staircase.

She will be walking in memory of her close friend, Sue Keogh. Dorothy House supported Sue and her family at a very difficult time. Bev says: “Cancer touches us all, and Dorothy House do such fantastic work supporting everyone who has been affected. A very big thank you to everyone who has helped with my fundraising and hill training.”

Bev hopes to raise £3,500 and has so far raised nearly £2,000 for the charity.
