Local fitness instructor, Bev Nicholls, has returned from her five-day hiking challenge along the Great Wall of China, in aid of Dorothy House.
Bev finished her challenge on Friday, 13th September in memory of her friend, Sue Keogh. She said: “It was an incredible journey, walking 48 miles, 700 floors and 102,831 steps and was much more challenging than I thought.
“I hiked over steep, newly-renovated steps, sheer slopes and through ancient beautiful watch towers.
“Some days I trekked through the tree-covered mountains to reach wilder, older, unrenovated parts of the wall. These were my favourite sections!
“I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has sponsored me and donated via Just Giving. On my page, there is currently £3,110, plus £650 which was raised in a Mulberry raffle earlier in the year.
“In 2012, I organised a sponsored Zumbathon at Writhington Leisure for the same charity, which raised £8,000.”
