Midsomer Norton and Radstock’s Inner Wheel President, Sue Hopkins, found herself at the comedic mercy of a ventriloquist’s mask at the club’s recent 62nd Charter Night.

The entertainer was ‘Nutty Noah’, alias Noah Kelly of Compton Bishop, who has several times featured on TV’s Britain’s Got Talent, who literally put words into Sue’s mouth, and tears of laughter into the eyes of the audience, as he sang her through the sentiments of the film, Frozen’s, “Let it Go”.

With his mix of music and magic, played out on many homemade props; involving bells, horns, boob bags, balloons and a toilet roll projectile, Noah lived up to his national title of ‘best family entertainer’ and left his audience in a constant state of hilarious surprise.

Guests at the dinner included Inner Wheel District Chairman, Maureen Netherway and her husband, Michael, from Yeovil, and Maureen was back with the club four days later to tell members of her plans to raise money for her chosen charity, Riding for the Disabled, that supports 28,000 adults and children throughout the UK.

Maureen is also supporting Inner Wheel’s School in a Bag project and, in the organisation’s 96th anniversary year, wants to send 96 bags to a school in Nepal that Inner Wheel has built.

Another goal is to spotlight Inner Wheel’s 2020 Mission, that raises respect for women and girls in deprived areas of the world by equipping them with sustainable sanitary wear.

Inner Wheel, the largest women’s voluntary organisation in the world that helps ordinary women do extraordinary things, now welcomes members that have no connection with its founding club, Rotary. There are many interesting and fun events lined up in the Midsomer Norton and Radstock branch so, if you are inspired to join, contact President Sue on: 07944 298036 or Elaine Muir on: 07543 973666.
