Following several years of bad weather, this year's carnival procession wound its way through Westfield in perfect conditions and on a mild evening, last Thursday, 15th November. This brought out bigger crowds to line the route of our much-loved 38th Illuminated Carnival.

Except for two walkers who could not attend, everything in the programme was present and correct, bringing laughter one moment and deep thought the next, as the more serious tableaux passed. Many exclamations of: "I wonder how they managed that!" could be heard as the masqueraders paraded the route with often huge

costumes that were difficult to carry and probably even more difficult to make!

The main consequence of the good weather was a huge and welcome rise in the street collection by £336.53 to £3,360.08. The committee would like to thank all those who contributed to the collection as more can be given to the charities carrying the heavy buckets. The Association have been able to distribute over £10,000 to charities and local groups over the past year.
