From Saturday, 13th, August, John Dando, on behalf of the Rotary Club community committee, will be holding a free sport boot exchange for children aged between six and eleven, the plan is to continue this every Saturday morning outside Sainsbury’s, for two months between 11am-1pm.

Although there is no cost, boots are expected to be cleaned and laced, ready for reuse. The project will be conducted entirely by local volunteers, and schools will be contacted by the team so they can get involved, whether it be for rugby boots, football boots, or any other kind of sporting boots.

John came across the idea after looking at a magazine, holding an exchange of winter coats for cold weather. He said: “It seemed like a handy idea, maybe we could do the same for football boots.

“I’d found a pair in the garage which were chucked away, and Rotary, also thought it was a good idea and decided to run it.”
