It conspired to be a hectic week for members of Chilcompton Art Club.
The Wiltshire-based professional artist, Graham Cox, gave one of his excellent tutorial workshops. He specialises in the medium of pastels and runs his business, ‘Moody Views’ from his studio in Trowbridge. Club members were given an overview of the medium and then guided through producing two beautiful landscape pictures in his distinctive style. For quite a few members, this was their first experience of using pastels, but with Mr Cox’s humour and step-by-step guidance, everyone ended up being delighted with the final results that they produced.
The annual exhibition also took place recently. Traditionally held on a Saturday, which was unavailable this year, visitor numbers were unfortunately lower, but the standard of work, however, was perhaps one of the best seen in recent years, with over 130 paintings on display. This year also saw the introduction of prizes for the best in certain categories, i.e. Pastels, Oils, Acrylics etc, with the judging being overseen independently by local professional artist, Karen George – the results of which will remain a secret until the prizegiving at the Christmas lunch in December.
The tombola stall was a great success, and the proceeds from which, £100, will be going toward Pancreatic Cancer Research.
The committee would like to thank all the members for their splendid entries, and also for committing their time to help run the event. Anyone who would like to join the club, no matter your ability, should visit: www.chilcomptonartclub.uk for details.
