The Midsomer Norton and Radstock Branch of the Royal British Legion is in danger of not being able to organise and sell poppies this year.

After many years of service, the previous Poppy Appeal Organiser for the area had decided to relinquish the post. As such, the local Branch of The Royal British Legion is appealing for a volunteer to fill said position.

This person would not have to take on all aspects of the task, as the Branch members and the existing army of collectors will still be able to rally round and give full assistance. But without a named person, the Branch are not legally allowed to collect.

However, this will not affect the Remembrance Day Parade, which will proceed as always on Sunday, 12th November. Any ex-servicemen and women, or their families, can join in the veterans’ section of the parade and do not have to be members of The Royal British Legion.

The Royal British Legion are “the guardians of Remembrance Day”, The Council have the role of certain aspects of the parade and the Branch organise it in conjunction with the Town Council. However the parade belongs to the veterans, so please, if you wish to participate, join in on the day.
