Last week’s Mystery Photograph was difficult, and left a few people perplexed! It was Timsbury House, which some of you remembered as being derelict before it was demolished from 1960. Timsbury House was in the Samborne family from the end of the 15th Century and was thought to date back to Tudor times.

According to The Timsbury Book, which was published by the Parish Council in 2000 as part of the millenium celebra- tions, Barnaby Samborne was knighted for his services to Queen Elizabeth I (thought to have been her standard bearer), with a story that the Queen once visited him in Timsbury!

Well done to: Rita Cook, Oscar Davies, Gillian Osborne, Natalie Avent, Janet Gilham, Mike Hathaway, Norma Attwood, Derek Biggs, Louise Gould, Hayley Tucker, Les Box and Hannah Selway, Colin and Carol Davies, Dave Sparey, Carole Faithorn, Robert Jamieson, Helen Barnes, Julian Bown, Elaine Bowen, Nicky Green, Andrew Matthews, Christine Oatley, Pam and Pauline Dukes, Peggy and Terry Rusz, Andrew Thayer, Jeff Parsons, Stephen Parsons, Frankie Ford and Simon Chard, who all guessed correctly!

Special mention to Mr Terry Goodman, who recognised the photograph for a special reason – he once painted it, and the picture hangs over his fireplace. He has also researched the subject extensively.
