A young Paulton family that were stuck indoors on a cold and wet day and came up with a brand new card game as a result, are now asking for backing to take it to the next level.

Amy Harrison has been in touch with The Journal to tell us more. She said: “I am a mother to four children and my eldest two, aged seven and five years, have recently created their own card game called Mix & Mayhem!

“My husband has helped them to make it into a real game, and we are currently trying to sell it on Kickstarter, but we still need a lot more backers over the next few days for it to be successful.”

Speaking on their Kickstarter campaign page, Amy’s husband, Simon, said: ‘One wet and cold day, when we were stuck inside and the children were bored and had exhausted their games, I suggested to them that they invent their own game.

‘With their amazing enthusiasm and creativity, they came up with some fantastic ideas. They suggested the idea of mixing up different characters to then battle each other – I thought this was a really fun idea, and wanted to help them turn it into a real game.

‘The three of us worked together, and had a great time doing it, to create Mix & Mayhem.

“We would talk about it at length each day, and doodle random characters, and then at night, when they went to bed, I tried to take their fun and crazy ideas and draw the game characters and refine the gameplay.

‘We wanted to create an exciting standalone card game that contains everything you need in the box and a game that is fast-paced, easy to learn and requires tactical decision-making and is not just purely down to luck.

‘It has been such an exciting journey creating this fun and furious game and bringing it to life. We have trialled the game extensively, receiving incredible feedback and people have always been desperate to play another round.

‘We would now love to bring Mix & Mayhem to the world, and hopefully we can do that through Kickstarter and with your amazing support.

‘Reaching our funding goal will allow us to print Mix & Mayhem at a reasonable and affordable per unit price and make it accessible to more people.’

Different pledges can be made to support the game, with levels or reward for the investors. £1,456 of the £2,400 goal had been reached as The Journal went to press, with six days remaining.
