Well done to all of those who guessed correctly the photograph from Bath Record Office which featured in last week’s Journal. We will be publishing a different photo each week (until we run out!) of old photographic postcards uncovered by the Record Office, who found these in a scrapbook compiled by Richard Boodle. Can you guess this week’s, above?
Last week’s photograph was taken of Saltford. Well done to John Baker, Andy Shipp and Maurice Hill, who all guessed correctly. Andy says: “The photograph shows the lower half of the High Street in the old part of Saltford.
“In the foreground, Queen Square is to the left, leading up to St Mary’s Church and to the right is The Batch.
“In the distance is the Bird in Hand pub, my local, in my youth.
“Not much has changed, the road is slightly wider and the extension to the pub has been made more permanent.”
So, think you can identify this week’s photograph? (Top image). Answer in next week’s Journal. Email: [email protected] with your answer and even a photograph of what the scene looks like today, or send it to us via Facebook @MNRJournal.
