Carine Apps, from Radstock, said goodbye to her long locks of the past five years last Friday, in able to donate her hair to The Little Princess Trust, which provides wigs for children with hair loss.
Carine has been growing her hair especially for the donation – the original plan being to grow it for ten years, but such is the abundance of her hair, it was time – five years too early!
Local hairdresser, Jo Hurst, from Jo Jo’s Hair Salon in Radstock, cut Carine’s Hair, which will now be sent to the charity to be made into a wig. Carine said: “My hair has always grown so quickly, and I have been aware that there are many people who have hair loss for so many reasons. I truly believe that when you have something that you can share, it should be shared.
“Most of the time, we tend to think that there is nothing we can do to help someone else, but I believe that we can, no matter what it is; there is always something that we can do to help others. This is my way of giving back; and my only hope is that anyone else reading this will do something to help another person and then carry on the giving chain.”
As well as her hair donation, Carine has been fundraising for The Little Princess Trust, which will go towards the cost of the hair being made into a wig and delivered to a child – raising over £270 so far. If you would like to donate, visit: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/carine-apps
