Volunteers and Directors of Somer Valley FM, the community radio station based in Midsomer Norton, joined together on Thursday, 14th July with some special guests to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the station.
Many members of the organisation have been involved since the RSL pilot scheme, which was run from Somervale School and founded by Cllr Chris Watt, Mark Kenny, from Somervale School and Mike Walker.
Dom Chambers, Station Manager, said: “This has been a wonderful celebration of how a classroom project at Somervale School has grown into an organisation which engages people, education, business and charities, right across the region.
“Thank you to everyone who has been and is currently involved from our sponsors, supporters, volunteers and listeners.
“It still feels like our journey has only just begun and there is a gathering
momentum about Somer Valley FM right now. Here’s to the next ten years of our story!”
The evening saw the presentation of a short film made by volunteers, Georgia Butler and Luke Barnes, about the organisation, as well as a farewell to Mark Kenny, who has announced his retirement from teaching.
