The potential for huge change to the area's annual carnival will be discussed at a special meeting of the Midsomer Norton and District Carnival Association next Tuesday, 16th April at the St John's Ambulance Hall on Radstock Road, Midsomer Norton at 7.30 p.m.
The meeting, organised on 'neutral' ground, will see members from Midsomer Norton, Radstock and Westfield needing to work together if the carnival is to regain access to the County Circuit.
With Bridgwater Carnival moving to a Saturday night, a Monday has now become free and could be taken by Midsomer Norton, which would mean a return of the large floats that now miss our circuit and were part of the 'glory days' of local carnival.
The meeting will call for a strong, enthusiastic and dedicated committee to see through this idea and many hurdles will need to be overcome before Midsomer Norton can apply and see if they are accepted on the circuit.
Everyone with ideas and enthusiasm is most welcome to this meeting.
As to the future of local carnival, watch this space!
