Work to extend Church Road car park in Radstock will begin on Monday, 22nd February.
The car park will remain open while the work goes on; this will involve stripping out and surfacing an overgrown area of land.
The car park currently provides 72 spaces. When the work is completed, expected by the end of March, there will be 92 spaces, including five disabled spaces.
Free parking will be limited to up to five hours between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday to Saturday, excluding Bank Holidays. Outside these times there will be unlimited free parking.
Also from the end of March, cars parking in eleven spaces in the western area of Waterloo Road car park, Radstock, will require a ticket. They can remain in the spaces free for up to four hours between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday to Saturday, excluding Bank Holidays. There will be free unlimited parking at all other times, and the rest of the car park will continue to provide unlimited free parking at all times.
In order to park at Church Road car park and the western area of Waterloo Road car park, you will need to collect a free pay and display ticket from the machines on site.
The changes have been made with a view to encouraging shoppers and supporting local businesses.
