IT was a fun and action packed time for the pupils of Chew Magna Primary School when they took on a challenging five day residential.
Classmates from Years 5 and 6 visited Great Potheridge House Activity Centre in Devon for their annual residential.
During their five-day residential trip this term, the children from Chew Magna Primary School learnt to abseil from a huge tree, took part in watersports, embarked on a night time walk and much more.

They also took part in a wide range of activities including kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, river scrambling, abseiling, and team activities such as “crate stacking”.
The children, all from Golden Eagle class, were all thrilled to be able to join in the fun - with plenty of highlights to look back on.
One pupil said: “I loved going on the night walk with my friends because it was so dark!”
Another said: “I really enjoyed the river scramble because there were so many fun parts like the massive rock that was a slide. It was really exciting.”
Another added: “I really enjoyed the tree abseil because the anticipation in your stomach made it so exciting.”

The Year 5 and 6 residential is organised for the start of the school year so that the children and staff can enjoy the benefits of the bonding and confidence building that happens as a result of the class being away together for five days.
The head teacher at Chew Magna, Annie Spencer, said one of the highlights of the residential was seeing her pupils’ confidence grow as the week went on.
She said: “The class had a wonderful week. The range of activities the children took part in were brilliant. We could see them growing in confidence and working together. The staff at Great Potheridge supported them so well.”
