Once a month the Red Lion pub in Paulton hosts a quiz evening in aid of local charities and groups within the village, organised by Dot Mitchard. A considerable amount of money has been raised for local charities and groups, all thanks to Dot.

The most recent quiz was in aid of Paulton’s Larder. The Larder was set up by Kayleigh Paul, with the help of local Councillors, Liz Hardman and Grant Johnson. Kayleigh runs and organises the Larder which is located by the Wesley Hall. A big thank you to Reverend Martin Slocombe and his congregation for allowing the Larder to be accessible to all at all times.

The money raised at the most recent quiz and the previous quiz two weeks before totalled £253. Liz Hardman (pictured) who received the money on behalf of Kayleigh Paul said: “This is a fantastic amount of money which people have so generously contributed to. It will mean we will be able to buy some special treats for those who use the Larder at Christmas time.”

Dot Mitchard also commented saying: “We are so grateful to the landlord of the Red Lion, Arlindo Gouveia, who not only allows us to run the quiz at his pub, but he also provides us with refreshments free of charge and makes us all feel so welcome. A big thank you is due to Arlindo, for helping us support so many charities and local groups, ranging from Paulton Pool’s extension fund to the Scouts, Brownies, Paulton Concert band and Paulton Amateur Dramatic Society to name but a few.

The next quiz will be will be a Christmas quiz in the Red Lion, Paulton on 12th December, 8 pm start. All very welcome.
