A few months ago, Libraries West held a competition to create a piece of art from an ex-book or other reading material based on the term “Revitalised” and exploring what that meant.
Two artists from the Cam Valley Arts Trail Group were awarded first prize and runner-up in the adult section. Anna Hurwitz created a Charm Necklace Made using copies of The Big Issue.
The judges commented: “An original and poignant statement, creatively executed and with a strong message.” And: “I love how intricate this entry was, so much time and effort has been put in to a beautiful detailed piece.”
Kate Wright produced a collage featuring Pulteney Bridge with thoughts from the judges: “Effective image, interesting interpretation of an iconic landmark.
“Might inspire others to pick up their read magazines and get creative.” And: “Beautiful use of collage to depict this instantly and easily recognisable corner of Bath.”
Congratulations to both artists for their original interpretations.
Cam Valley Arts Trail will be back in the autumn, Covid permitting, with their usual weekend arts trail on November 6th and 7th. Follow us on social media @camvalleyartstrail and on our webpage: camvalleyartstrail.co.uk
