Local Councillor, Sarah Bevan, has been planning a commemorative tree planting event in Eckweek Gardens, Peasedown St John for the past year and the event took place last Sunday with a team of volunteers.
The funding came from Bath and North East Somerset Council's Ward Councillors Initiative Fund, £1,000 in total, with arboricultural expertise provided by Adam and Neil Gretton, from local charity, More Trees for Bath and North East Somerset. Cllr Bevan said: "I've been planning two events since last year to provide us with a lasting, sustainable commemoration of the First World War in its centenary year.
"This is the first one and my thanks go especially to Adam and Neil, Curo Group and local volunteers for making this planting project possible."
Cllr Bevan's second planting homage to the fallen will take place on November 22nd on Orchard Way, when the original orchard, removed to make way for the new estate in Peasedown St John, will be replaced.
