More than 150 people in Bath and North East Somerset without a home this ChristmasChris Tabb, Andy Bromley, Stuart Arnold, Nick Cox, Gary Wood, Step Hallett and Chris Smith, supported by Khurm Arshad, who will be piloting the support van, will embark on the journey, which will see the group on their bikes until 16th August. The team are raising funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign and, in particular, Auzair's Fund, which was set up by Khurm, to help with treatments for his younger brother. So far, they have raised £2,000, with Khurm aiming to reach a target of £100,000.
The charity provides support for those suffering from more than sixty different muscle-wasting conditions. It also funds world-class research into finding effective treatments and cures.
Khurm said: "The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign was involved from day one of Auzair's diagnosis. The charity's Care Advisor, Jan Smith, was imperative to guiding us through the first four or five years. Without her guidance, we would have been lost and many of our questions would have remained unanswered."
One of the riders, Chris Tabb, who plays cricket for Midsomer Norton, took up cycling especially for this mission, whilst his team-mate, Nick Cox, has already completed over 3,000km, whilst training for the ride.
