A woman in her eighties and one other person were arrested by police and taken for questioning on Monday lunchtime after the windows of the Curo offices in Midsomer Norton (opposite the Town Hall), were smashed, reportedly with a hammer.

"I can confirm that two people have been arrested for an offence of criminal damage at the Curo offices in Midsomer Norton earlier today," said Inspector Shirley Eden. "Enquiries are ongoing."

The incident is thought to have occurred due to a long-running dispute. A spokesperson from social housing landlord, Curo, said: "Whilst I cannot comment on the case as it is under police investigation, I can confirm that the two people arrested are not Curo customers.

"There was an incident at Curo's Midsomer Norton office on Monday - colleagues were shaken by the experience, but no-one was hurt. There were no customers in the building at the time.

"We have had to close the office while we carry out repairs and we will reopen as soon as possible.

"We would like to apologise to customers for the inconvenience. Anyone requiring help can contact Curo's main office in Bath on: 01225 355000 or visit our website: http://www.curo-group.co.uk">www.curo-group.co.uk which has details of other ways customers can get in touch."
