Local Theatre School, Curtain Up, is still giddy from the delights of its production of Les Misérables last spring.

The production was nominated for six awards and took home three of them, including Rose Bowls for Best Actress, for Natalie Acheson’s portrayal of Éponine, Coup de Theatre, for Javert’s Death played by Lucas Porter, from Midsomer Norton, who recently wowed audiences in his role of Tony in West Side Story and a NODA award, for Best Youth Achievement.

Directed by Tristan Carter, who many will know as the director of Bath Operatic and Dramatic Society’s sold-out performances of West Side Story at the Theatre Royal, Bath, Hot Mikado is set to delight audiences of all ages.

Hot Mikado is bright, fast, funny and full of jazz numbers that will keep audiences

tapping their toes for weeks to come. It is the story of Yum Yum, who is set to marry KoKo, but would prefer to marry Nanki-Poo. Nanki Poo is on the run from Katisha and also happens to be the Mikados’ son. Meanwhile, the Mikado has not seen an

execution for a while, so needs KoKo to find a victim. Of course, as it is based on Gilbert and Sullivan’s Mikado, it is a crazy storyline – with a happy ending!

Nanki Poo is played by Henry Stratford, from Holcombe and Lucas Porter, from Midsomer Norton, plays Pish Tush.
