In complete contrast to last year’s event, Westfield Parish Council had to forgo blazing sunshine and held a very soggy Fun Day last Sunday, 2nd June.

There had been much excitement for the late addition of a fly past from the Red Arrows, however, the weather also put paid to this, and the spectacle ended up over Haydon instead!

A spokesperson for Westfield Parish Council said: “Overall, the Westfield Fun Day was good. We saw a fair few people, despite the weather, and the entertainment in the ring was outstanding as usual.

“Considering the conditions, it was a good day, and thank you to all who supported us.”

The Red Arrows that had been due to fly past sent apologies.

“We were very close to the area, but a shower was lingering over the high ground, and we just couldn’t get past and had to reroute.”
