A dance show held at Writhlington School’s theatre as part of a fundraising initiative for dance instructor, Azlee Manley’s charity bike ride across Vietnam has raised £3,652.
Azlee, who is raising money for Ovarian Cancer Action, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Breast Cancer Care, organised the show with her students and colleagues as part of an ongoing fundraising scheme which will culminate in her riding a bike across Vietnam and ending in Cambodia next February.
Feedback of the event from parents included comments such as:?“To see my child on stage, full of confidence and absolutely loving it had me reaching for the tissues! The hard work and dedication of the coaches is second to none and I am so pleased that my daughter has the opportunity to learn to dance with you.”
Another parent said: “The show was so well organised and put together. I think Writhlington should be very proud to have such fantastic girls representing their dance facilities. Our daughter said she felt like a star and also asked when she could do more shows! It brought tears to our eyes watching her.”
Azlee said: “We were helped by a team of volunteers from the staff at Writhlington Leisure and without them, the show would not have been possible, it ran seamlessly and all the children were well looked after and entertained by our staff backstage.
“I speak for both myself and Becky when I say we are so very proud of every child who took part. For many it was their first ever experience of a dance show and they were all fantastic! It was a phenomenal success as we raised over and above the amount we even thought we could, so we are over the moon!”
