Writhlington Sixth Form students, Catherine Diffey and Logan Read, have conquered the skies by completing their solo skydives on Sunday, 3rd July.

The couple were featured in The Journal earlier this year as they campaigned to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, as Catherine has been battling the condition since birth.

They decided to each undertake solo skydives to help raise awareness and funds for the charity, which has helped Catherine live as full and active a life as possible.

They both jumped out of the plane at the same time as an instructor, but had to pull their own parachute cord and land themselves following an intensive day of training.

Now, having completed their challenge, they have a combined total of £1,415.99 for the charity.

Catherine said: “The weather held up for the skydive in the end! It was an absolutely amazing, yet terrifying experience.”
