Westfield has welcomed the installation of its fourth defibrillator in the parish. Located just outside the front door of Westfield Surgery on Waterford Park, the defibrillator is kept in a secure metal cabinet and, by ringing 999, the emergency services will ensure people have the access code in the event of an emergency.
Chair of the Parish Council, Geoff Fuller, said: “Steady progress has been made in our journey towards excellent coverage of defibrillators in Westfield, and I am delighted to say that this latest installation is the last in our programme of works.
“Defibrillators are now live 24/7 at Elm Tree Avenue, Mardons Social Club, the Fire Station and now Westfield Doctor’s Surgery on Waterford Park. They have already been put to good use and we know just how valuable this equipment is in saving lives.
“Our thanks to Westfield Surgery for working with us and allowing the installation outside their building. Thanks to the Westfield Allotment and Garden Society (WAGS) who have so public-spiritedly taken on the weekly checks which are vital for the defibrillator to remain operational, and finally, many thanks to A. F. Denning for installing the equipment free of charge. It is good to see such amazing evidence of community spirit in Westfield.”
