Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to send in their guesses for this week’s Mystery Photograph – it was a seemingly difficult one this week!

Last week’s mystery photograph is of Highbury Street, Coleford.

A big thank you to Charlie Blanning, who has been in touch to share the following: “The car is parked outside the shop owned by my Grandfather, W.M. Jones, aka William Marchant, or plain Bill Jones. This was his first shop. Later he moved to the Crossways, where he opened an emporium which included a news agency, barber’s shop, photographer’s studio, haberdashery, (run by my Grandmother) and garage. The Co-op now occupies the site.

“When time allowed, he also wrote newspaper columns and the Jarge Balsh dialect stories as well as acting as a music hall performer. It’s good to keep busy!”

Charlie has very kindly sent us a view of the shop from the opposite side of the road and of the building today.

Other correct answers were received from Alan and Norma Norris and Frankie Ford. Well done everyone!

A big thank you to Radstock Museum for their continued support of this feature.
