Last week’s photograph was a little tricky, but was the view of Wellow. Well done to John Phillips and Eric Brain, who guessed correctly!
John Phillips says: “This picture stirred a lot of memories, as it is of the east end of Wellow looking north from a point towards the bottom of Hassage Hill.
“Although the image is rather unclear, you can make out the tower of St Julians Church, top right. The ‘white line’ just discernible below the church would be the ballast of the S&D railway going towards Midford and onwards to Bath. The row of houses in the centre is The Rank and the building on the centre left would be the old Corn Mill.
Although I now live in Radstock, my roots are well and truly in Wellow having attended the school and being christened in the church!”
