It was a busy week on the Mystery Photograph – thanks to everyone who has been in touch with their answers. It was the Blacksmith’s shop at Gurney Slade – a big thank you to Radstock Museum for the picture.
Well done to: Mr Swift, Rob Wilcox, Eric Brain, Andy Coombs, Paul
Hancock, Eric Brain, Rob Wilcox, Paul Cook, Les Box and Hannah
Selway, Roger Winsley, Ian Hancock, Frankie Ford and landlord of the George Inn at Gurney Slade, Graham Fuzzey.
Robert Wilcox says: “On the left would be the George Inn, still with us today, and opposite was the Bull Inn, behind the tree shown, tree and pub long gone.
“The cottage facing the photograph was lived in by the Brine family, who lost three sons in the Great War in 1914 – 1918.”
Landlord of the George Inn, Gurney Slade, Graham Fuzzey, says: “The Mystery Photograph was taken outside the George Inn on the main A37. The cottage on the left hand side is Woodbine Cottage, across the road, on the right side of the tree, was Fry’s Garage.”
This week’s Mystery Photograph (top) was sent in by a reader and he hopes it may jog some memories. Can you help?
