Our thanks go to reader, Jeff Parsons, who sent in last week’s Mystery Photograph of the Midsomer Norton Traders versus the Radstock Traders at a football match played at Radstock’s

Southfields ground. The team members are pictured in front of an old railway carriage which was used as a changing room!

Jeff thinks he may have names of some of those pictured below. From left to right, Midsomer Norton Traders (back row): George Parsons (trainer), Fred Smith, Cliff Mitchard, Gilb Turner, Bert Ladd, Harold Talbot, Billy Hoare, Frank Whittock, Ray Gould, George Gooding, Jack Matthews, (not sure of first name – Mitchard).

Radstock Traders: Len Mitchard, Cliff Lawrence, Punch Walters (unsure of first name – Coles), Tom Mills, Arthur Veater, Edgar Parry, Bert Mitchard, Bert Wareham, Ray Fish, Frank Bristow.

Jeff says: “The photograph shows signs of the times – flat caps and ciggies!”

Well done to Jurgen & Bobby via Twitter who had the correct answer and to Nicola Windless, who says: “I am with my Uncle, Laurie Shreeves and he’s mentioned that it is the Radstock Town football team. He was ten years old in 1944, he used to watch them on a Saturday. The railway truck was their dressing room.”

And finally, thanks to Terry Wilkinson, who also had the correct answer – he was a goalkeeper for Radstock “many years ago”. Thank you, Terry.
