A reminder that a sale of local paintings will take place on Saturday, 4th December to help raise funds for All Saints’ Church, Publow and the Pensford Local History Group.

The paintings are by the late Robert Bailey, who was born and lived in Pensford his entire life.

He met his late wife, Margaret, whilst at Pensford School and worked in Pensford Colliery. When it closed, he went on to work as Transport Manager at Vitamealo in Keynsham.

Through his commitment to helping others he was also involved with the Stanton Drew Scouts and the Pensford Evergreens.

He was well known to various local history groups and presented to many over the years at their meetings.

Robert sadly died in 2019 but left quite a legacy.

The Pensford Local History Group (PLHG) is currently working on digitising a vast collection of slides and photographs which Robert’s family kindly donated.

Over and above all of this, Robert was an accomplished artist in his own right and this is your chance to own a very special piece of his artwork.

On behalf of Robert’s family, members of the PLHG are selling individual pieces of work from a collection of over 150 paintings and drawings. Robert used several mediums, including watercolour, acrylic, pastel and pen on paper, card and board. A number of them are local scenes, along with some lovely rural and still life. Some are mounted and a few are beautifully framed, but the majority are not.

The sale takes place between 10 am and 12.30 pm at the All Saints’ Christmas Church Marketin Publow (BS39 4HP). Preference for payment is cash but there will be access to a card machine.
