Writhlington School is celebrating an outstanding year of Sixth Form results. Thirty different subjects had a 100% pass rate and almost 50% of the grades were at A*/B. Over 150 students successfully completed their Sixth Form studies this year. Over thirty students obtained three or more A*/B grades and 45% of students achieved at least two A*/B grades.
This year will see the highest ever number of Writhlington students progressing to university in September.
There were many outstanding results in subjects favoured by top universities, including some remarkable individual achievements. Lucy Chivers gained four top A grades in Biology,
Chemistry, Psychology and Extended Project and will be joining the Royal Veterinary College in London. Robert Clapp will be studying Environment and Development at London School of Economics after achieving three A grades in Geography, Maths and Politics. Megan Martin is off to Southampton University to study Civil Engineering with an A* and two A grades in Maths, Physics and Chemistry, and Alessandra di Vincenzo also achieved three A grades in Maths, Physics and Chemistry. Jena Bryan achieved three A grades in Maths, Biology and Psychology and a Distinction* in Sport and will be studying Physiotherapy at the University of the West of England. Other top performers were Scott Baker, Hannah Bennett and Rebecca Thomas with four Distinction* grades and Bradley Edwards, Jamie O’Neill, Mollie Woods and Nadia Mead with three Distinction* grades.
Writhlington Sixth Form students will be progressing to a number of universities across the country, including London School of Economics, Exeter, Cardiff, Manchester, Sheffield, Nottingham, Bristol, Southampton, University of Kent and University of Bath. Matt Bell and Dixie Newman both secured a first for Writhlington with places at prestigious national performing arts schools.

As well as being dedicated and hardworking, they have always shown a high degree of loyalty and support for each other and it was heartwarming to see so many smiles due to their successful university applications.”

We are delighted with their results,” said Headteacher, Mark Everett. “What is particularly pleasing is that almost every single student has been able to go to their first choice of university, has secured a course in Further Education or a high quality apprenticeship with a clear career path.”
