Children at St Julian’s School, Wellow, dedicated their Christmas Nativity Service to ‘thinking about others’ last month, as £150 was raised for two local good causes.
School Headteacher, Ruth Noall, said: “Thanks to all the parents, families and parents who came along to our Christmas Nativity at St Julian’s Church in December.
“We re-told the Christmas story in an easy-to-understand, yet thought-provoking way, so children could understand what it must have been like to be in the Bethlehem stable over 2,000 years ago!
“We wanted to relate the events of the Bible to modern-day situations too,” added Ruth. “In particular, the difficulties and struggles families go through today in finding the money to purchase food and pay household bills – which is why we’ve supported the Somer Valley Foodbank as part of our Christmas appeal.”
The Somer Valley Food-bank, which provides three days of emergency supplies to people in food crisis, and St Julian’s Church, in Wellow, both took a share of the £150 raised at the Nativity Service.
After receiving the donation, Somer Valley Foodbank Manager, Paul Woodward, said: “Thank you for the £75 donation and the box of goodies that you sent before Christmas. They will both be put to good use to support the people in this area who are struggling to make ends meet. Once again, thank you very much.”
