Shoscombe School has welcomed two new chickens to help the children learn about animal care and welfare.
School Headteacher, Ruth Noall, said: “Outdoor learning and play are a key part of the educational experience here in Shoscombe. Welcoming our new chickens – which will live in the school grounds – really does help children to understand how animals live and how they should be looked after.”
The Friends of Shoscombe School Association (FOSSA) and the local Parish Council both contributed to the cost of the fantastic new chicken coop.
“We’re grateful to FOSSA and the Parish Council for their support. We’d also like to thank the Craddock family who kindly donated the two chickens,” added Ruth. “We will be holding a competition in school to name the chickens. The school community will help to care for the chickens during school breaks."
