Welton Primary School eagerly welcomed owner of Dan’s Ice Creams, Dan Moyse, to their school on Thursday afternoon before half term for a lunchtime pick-me-up, thanks to one generous parent who nominated the school to win Dan’s Facebook competition.
To celebrate the three year anniversary of Dan’s Ice Creams, Dan launched a competition on Facebook to give away trays of ice cream to the deserving winner, and one who is nominated by the public.
When asked what made him want to host this competition, Dan told The
Journal: “I have young children and I have seen how much they have struggled throughout the pandemic, so I really wanted to give something back and put a smile on people’s faces again.
“As it has been a tough year for everyone, the whole school will get an ice cream.
“All of the children and adults deserve it, so I am very happy to be here!”
One hundred and seventy-six children and staff were delighted with their autumn afternoon treat, with a Year One student saying: “I absolutely love ice cream, thank you. Yum!”
Bumbles Day Care were also amongst the children patiently waiting for their ice creams and lollies.
John Snell, Headteacher at Welton Primary School, was over the moon to be able to welcome Dan. He said: “It is so nice to know that the community put our school forward for this very generous gift.
“It was a lovely treat for the children on their last day of half term.
“Thank you so much to Dan’s Ice Creams for a brilliant afternoon.”
