Children at Westfield Primary School took part in the school’s annual Fantastic Futures initiative recently, just before
the summer holidays, which sees representatives from different areas of employment visit classes and hopefully, inspire them to become the next generation in their particular trade.
The children experienced a fun-packed week learning about different careers, with visitors including an EasyJet pilot, the Royal Navy, the NHS, an architect, a graphic designer and took part in engineering activities, mindfulness workshops and a session with Journal Editor, Becky Brooks, who was the one answering all of the questions for once!
The children learnt about what it takes to put together a weekly newspaper and the skills involved and asked some amazing questions. They will be brilliant journalists of the future!
They also had a go at writing their own stories, learning about headlines, quotes and photography.
The aim of Fantastic Futures is for pupils to aim high and to be the best that they can be. The week will certainly have inspired them to do so!
