As part of the National Lipreading Awareness Week, local Lipreading teacher, Janice Fisher, will be running free taster sessions across Bath and North East Somerset.

Many people start to see some deterioration in their hearing as they grow older. Hearing conversations against background noise can become more challenging and it can become difficult to hear speech clearly. It takes people on average ten years to do something about their hearing loss, often because most people don’t realise their hearing has deteriorated; because it is so gradual.

The sessions are for people with hearing loss, whether they wear hearing aids or not. Class members gain confidence, learn tactics and strategies to improve communication, find out about equipment and organisations that can help, all in an informal environment and even have fun doing it!

There will be a free taster session held at St Martin’s Hospital, Bath, on Wednesday, 13th September at 5.30 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Paulton Memorial Hospital on Thursday, 14th September, from 10.30 a.m. until 12 noon.
